PREP OPTIONAL  TEAM

The purpose of our Prep Optional Program is to give each gymnast the opportunity to participate in competitive gymnastics. A year-round commitment is necessary. The goal of the program is to challenge each and every athlete's limits and abilities. We hope our program will help your gymnast develop an emotional strength that will guide her through the sport and beyond. Our program puts an emphasis on team unity , sportsmanship, self-discipline and perseverance.

Prep Optional Gymnastics Competition is sanctioned through the USA Gymnastics Program. USA Gymnastics is the governing body of gymnastics in the United States. USA Gymnastics wanted to provide an alternative to the Junior Olympic Program where gymnasts could still continue their participation in gymnastics, challenge their abilities in optional level routines, but have limited time commitment in the gym.

In addition to developing the mental toughness for the sport, coaches will focus on building strength, increasing flexibility and developing basic skills. It is vital for long term success that gymnasts learn to hold necessary gymnastics body shapes, develop the strength and flexibility to perform skills correctly and always have proper technique. At Stars & Stripes we feel it is vital that all athletes follow proper progressions. We also put a great emphasis on correct technique. By using both of these principles we can ensure gymnasts long-term success and keep injuries to a minimum.

PHILOSOPHY OF THE STARS & STRIPES
COMPETITIVE PROGRAM

At Stars & Stripes Gymnastics Academy our goal is to provide children's educational programs through physical activity that far exceed the norm. Our programs are specifically designed to meet the needs of children of all ages and skill levels. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to feel the empowerment of athletics. We will see to it that every child who participates in our program receives the same quality instruction regardless of their ability. Gymnastics offers extreme physical challenges, where gymnasts will learn self-motivation, discipline and the gratification of over coming obstacles.

We will offer every gymnast the best professional instruction in a well organized program along with a challenging, yet enjoyable environment. We will strive to provide the emotional and physical discipline needed for competitive gymnastics within a structure that will give support, encouragement and a "never settle for than less than your best" mentality. We want to produce athletes that have pride, confidence, determination and a drive to push their limits.

PREP OPTIONAL LEVELS

There are 3 levels in the USAG Prep Optional Program; Bronze, Silver and Gold. All gymnasts must be ten years of age by January 1, (the beginning of the competitive season). All competing athletes must be USAG Athletic Members. Gymnasts will be evaluated and placed in a level where they will be successful. Form, technique & execution will be strongly evaluated. We are not looking for how many skills a gymnast can perform, rather how well can they perform their skills. The competitive season begins in January and ends with a state meet in May. Gymnast will compete in approximately 5 in-state competitions.
